DaliClock is both a time-keeping application and a historic piece of art. As the digits change, a mesmerizing animation unfolds. DaliClock is a variant of a program by Steve Capps from the early 80s, written for the Xerox Alto. This program contains the original algorithm as well as a new variant and two new "morph" algorithms. It is also capable of displaying the original font from the 80s and the font re-built in the 90s by Jamie Zawinski for X Windows.

The Story:
I worked at Apple in the mid-80s, where Steve Capps showed me the clock program he had ported to the Mac plus. At the time, he gave me a hint about how he did it that somehow stuck with me for 24 years. In November 2008, I decided to re-create the program, this time for the iPhone. After I had it working, I discovered that the source code to the older program was available on the web, and had been modernized to OSX by Jamie Zawinski. Since my results looked a little different than the original program, I included both algorithms, and then moved on to develop a new "morph" technique with which to change the digits.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy this application!
